Plant-Powered Living

Okay, as most of you know by now — my life revolves around plant-powered living. Each day is beauty coming up from the earth. Plants, fruits...Why not allow these things to nourish our bodies and give us a power that is amazing?

So here I am — time for my annual month-long cleanse. I am SO SUPER PUMPED. Nick and I have talked and talked about how unfortunately life takes it toll on us. We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of busy lives. Running from here to there and jumping in the drive-thru line at Starbucks for the "needed" caffeine fix. I mean we work hard — we deserve that venti soy latte, right? Wrong! We deserve a fresh wholeness. We deserve a large glass of green juice!

Starting new. I love second (or third, or fourth...) chances. Life is great that way! I am restarting my engine. Kicking out the caffeine. Kicking out the gluten. Kicking out the sugar. Kicking out anything and everything bad, and allowing my body to be the powerful being it was created to be. Not relying on anything but what comes directly from the earth. Fresh fruits. Fresh veggies. Whole grains. It is such a good thing. It is not about giving anything up but more about gaining health.

First week of the cleanse, here is what my menu is looking like:

  • lots and lots of green juice
  • raw mexican pilaf
  • raw green goddess salad
  • kale & avocado salad
  • quinoa collard wraps

For the next month I will be sharing a few delicious raw vegan recipes with you. I really hope it doesn't scare you but stirs you to try them out. Raw vegan sounds a little crazy but I promise you nothing tastes better. Let me let in in on a little secret: The secret to getting ahead is getting started. I believe it is never too late to start. Cheers to health!

If you don't take care of this the most magnificent machine that you will ever be given...where are you going to live? —Karyn Calabrese
